Lecture on “ So You are incorporated. Now what?” on November 28th 2006 from 6.00 – 9.00 pm at Sheraton Parkway Hotel, 600 Highway 7 East, Richmond Hill. This will be a SADA event and is eligible for RCDSO CE points.
The first issue of the Health journal ‘ Nalamthana’ was published in October 2006. CMDDA plans to bring this Tamil / English issue twice a year with relevant articles written mostly by CMDDA members and by prominent Srilankan Canadian Physicians and Dentists
CMDDA organized a Fund raising Gala on October 21st at the Sheraton Parkway Hotel in Richmond Hill. This eventful evening we collected and handed over a Cheque for $ 50,000.00 towards the Alzheimer Day Program at the Providence HealthCare. Helping Healing and Healing lives.
On October 14th 2006 CMDDA members took part in the ‘Autumn Bowlathon’ organized by Kanish & Partners to raise funds for Providence Healthcare Center, Tamil Caregiver Project.
The Annual Family Picnic was held on August 13th 2006. It was organized by the Secretary, Dr. Indran Asirwatham in Peterborough with many new members taking part. In addition to the Picnic in the Park all the families went on the ‘Lift Lock river cruise’ which was a memorable experience to many.
On June 3rd 2006, a Dental Forum was held at the Elegance Restaurant & Banquet Hall in Toronto to discuss the “ Dental Care Needs in North-East Srilanka”. The event was coordinated by CMDDA/ MIFT and sponsored by Nobel Biocare. Srilankan Dentists from USA, UK and Canada participated in this event. A parallel forum on ‘ Medical & Psychiatric needs’ was also conducted at the same time in the same venue by the Srilankan Physicians from the above three Countries attending.
CMDDA Members Joinforce CTCC - June 11th 2006, Walk-a-ton organized by Canadian Tamils' Chamber of Commerce in need of the Scarborough Hospital Foundation and Providence Health Care Foundation.
As a follow up to the above forum, on July 2nd 2006 some CMDDA dentists had a meeting with Dr.Vasuki form Australia at the Madras Palace in Richmond Hill. Dr.Vasuki, who has done extensive work in the war ravaged areas in North-East Srilanka for the past several years.
CMDDA members took part in the Canada Day Parade on July 1st 2006 joining the Toronto East Dental Society TEDS float. Dr. Selvarajah was in charge of this
A group of CMDDA/ MIFT members went to CUBA in March 2006 and visited the Dental Faculty in Havana. They donated several items including a Laptop, video camera, Scanner, Dental Materials etc. All these items were collected from among the members in Canada.
